PURCHASING OF UNITS FOR CUSTOMERS WITH SEVEN-DIGIT PREPAID METER NUMBERS

On 18th January 2018, ESCOM changed its pre-paid and post-paid billing systems.
This has affected our customers with seven-digit meter numbers in the following ways:
They will ONLY purchase electricity units through:

  1. ESCOM Customer Service Centers across the country
  2. Prepaid electricity (Magetsi) scratch cards which can be found at ESCOM Service Centers and FDH Bank Branches

Our customers with seven-digit-meter numbers will, therefore, not be able to purchase electricity units through mobile banking; Airtel money, Mpamba or from service / filling stations.

This will go on until ESCOM replaces the seven digit meters with eleven digit meters.
