UPGRADE OF 66kV TRANSMISSION LINES IN LILONGWE

The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi Limited (ESCOM) is informing its valued customers in Lilongwe City and surrounding areas that between 1st and 16th September 2018, ESCOM, through the Millennium Challenge Account-Malawi (MCA-M), will be upgrading and reinforcing its 66kV Transmission Network that supplies power within Lilongwe City and surrounding areas. As such, customers in the city will experience varied power outages during this period.

The power outages are aimed at allowing the MCA-M to complete their electricity infrastructure project works under the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact (MCC-Compact). During the exercise, MCA-M contractors will be connecting the new infrastructure to ESCOM’s existing systems.

It is expected that the exercise will result into improved security and reliability of power supply to Lilongwe City and surrounding areas.

Details of specific areas that will be affected will be published in newspapers, radios and ESCOM social media platforms throughout the period of the exercise.

ESCOM appreciates the support and cooperation of its customers at the time it is carrying out the exercise.
